The author has a nice view on how the farms are getting visited by thieves. And that happens all over the country not only in California, and this is happening for many years. This author tries to make a point on how people do not have anything else to do but to steal from the hard working farmers.

Farm Thieves Target Grapes, and Even Bees
This article attracted my attention on how ironic is too steal grapes and copper from someone else. Sgt. Walt Reed explains how he has protect vineyards from the guys that have nothing else too do but to steal crops. Regarding that he has to put on the area full time detectives that have to take care of a county 8 times the size of Rhode Island. Stealing the copper have huge impacts in the fields because, they take out the copper cords and they have no electricity. Every time they buy new one and put on it gets thieved. Sgt. came out with the idea of putting solar panels that way they don't have any cords to steal. Copper is not the only metal they steal, with 200 pounds of iron they could get $75 or $100. That is enough for gas or for something else with out any hard work.
