6. What other remarks might you have about the books? Questions? Observations? Reactions?

i am in the beginning of Jack Kerouacs on the road, as soon as i read it i began to see that his goal was to seek out adventure" i had just gotten over a serious illness that i wont bother to talk about, except that it had something to do with the miserably weary split-up and my feeling that everything was dead" I knew that if he had a feeling of everything being dead he would be on a constant pursuit for life or at least a time when everything was ok. It reminded me of an old saying that someone close to me used " anything dead and still walking wants life back in it." His fascination with Dean was all too apparent. I thought it was because Dean possesed something that he once had or never had. when he described his letters as "naively" and "Sweetly" i felt that these were things that he had lost. And when he described Dean as mysterious i knew that he had a thing for the "idiosyncracies of life." He wanted to know what made life interesting and unique to the owner. He also had an interest in rebellion because it showed one who was zealousfor life all the while he had a feeling of everything being dead.

i would have loved to learn more about his split up and his illness. having more background on these two important events in his life would allow the reader to get to know him better. They would get to see what really drove him on this quest for more of life. I also wanted to know why he was staying with his aunt. I would have also liked to learn more about his parents.

Overall this story is just what i expected a man who feels like hes lost his zest for life and is on a search for it back through a group of characters. automatically i thought of the concept manifest destiny. He was so sure his future was in the west and he was going to stop at nothing to get it. i am surprisingly interested to finish the book so i can see wheteher or not he obtains thatperspective he is on a mission to gain. I wonder what friendships he will keep and which he will lose. I alos wonder will he grow as a man or will he get to the point where he is so dissapointed with life and turns to unhealthy coping mechanisms. i have the rest of august to find out.
