Carlo told him of Old Bull Lee, Elmer Hassel, Jane: Lee in Texas growing weed, Hassel on Riker's Island, Jane wandering on Times Square in a benzedrine hallucination, with her baby girl in her arms and ending up in Bellevue. And Dean told Carlo of unknown people in the West like Tommy Snark, the clubfooted poolhall rotation shark and cardplayer and queer saint. He told him of Roy Johnson, Big Ed Dunkel, his boyhood buddies, his street buddies, his innumerable girls and sex-parties and pornographic pictures, his heroes, heroines, adventures. They rushed down the street together, digging everything in the early way they had, which later became so much sadder and perceptive and blank. But then they danced down the streets like dingledodies, and I shambled after as I've been doing all my life after people who interest me, because the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes "Awww!"

this passage by itself shows his love for language. He has a way of setting the scene so that the reader isnt too surprised at what she or he will read next. In this one passage he showed just how Carlos and Deans friendships was being set and glued. right before his very eyes he was losing one of his passions, his means for escape. This scene foreshadowed his search for like minded people. It showed just what he was willing to tolerate in order to be around the likes of these people. At this point you could see him hungry to obtain what it is they had. he wanted their perspective of life their view and that is why he chased after them hungry.

His descriptions are vaague yet poingant " they rushed down the street together, digging everything in the early way they had, which later became so much sadder and perceptive and blank" In these few words he showed that he felt left out of their friendship as well as the destiny of two con men. After reading this quote i assumed that their friendship would not last; ecause Carls outlook on life was already within a box and Dean had just a tad bit more innocence and like water to a flame his excitement would be doused my carls realism. The fact that you can recieve that much insight from a few words shows me that he has a love for language because when you do youre selcetive in the words you use. you understand that if placed together in the right order, complimenting one another it can paint a picture for the reader. They can now see life as you do. I believe he did just that.
