The Road- Post 2 Question #7

Cormac McCarthy has a very unique style of writing. He describes everything and every situation that the characters are placed in. However, i don't think that Icould finalize his entire book into one question. I could break it down into different categories, but not tie all into one.

Death- The father and his son often find themselves talking about death. it all began when the boy wished to be with his mother. His mother has died and i take it that the boy was wishing that he was dead. I belive that the boy was trying to tell his father, without saying it directly, that he would rather die and be at peace than to deal with the pain of hunger and uncertainty. This section of the book McCarthy is trying to say, sometimes we make think that death is the better route to take, but you can never be sure. ( pgs. 29, 55, 85, 177, 286)

Comfort- The boy never had to worry about anything happening to him, because even when their was no one left on the earth ( as far as we're concerned) he still had someone to love and be there for him. His father would go all out for his son. He has protected him even when he was scared his own self. The man also killed someone for him. In this section of the book, McCarthy is trying to say, even when it seems like everyone has gone, there will always be that one person who will be there to make you feel strong. (throughout the entire book)

Life Lessons- McCarthy uses the father to sort of give us an idea of what happened to the world. the father tries his best to answer every question that his son asks him to the best of his ability, whether its true or false. The man creates games for his son from the base of an actual game that he once played. He teaches his son many different survival skills, and lessons on how to be strong even at your weakest points. (throught out the entire book)
