On The Road (Question 4)

In the book On the Road, there is mistreatment of women. Between the two main characters, Sal and Dean, you can tell that they each have their own views on women. Sal is the guy who seems to treat women with respect. For example, Sal went to chili joint and there he met a waitress who he liked. He even had written her a love note. He says, "It was a little poem about how I wanted her to come and see the night with me." Dean is a real player when it comes to women. Dean is married to woman named, Marylou, but is also with another name Camille. Everyday he makes time to go back and forth between these women. These men do have differences when it comes to women in their lives.

The novel, "On the Road", has a strong connection with real life. One thing to be learned as the audience is that not every person is the same. For instance, not every man is the same, just like not every woman would like to be a "second option". If a man, in this case Dean, is already married yet he doesn't care and is with Camille as well. Some men wouldn't do that though. Some, like Sal, would appreciate a woman and would be with her and only her. Like you stated, Imani, both of the main characters have their own views on women, just like other men would. Both men are different. You can describe Dean as wild and probably experienced with women if he likes to be with more than one woman at once. Sal is different, he appreciates woman, especially the waitress he had his eye on. He is a young an innocent writer, starting to learn how to live.
