I read about the battle and the bloodshed between Israel and Gaza, and above it all is the title Israel and Hamas Move to Restore Cease-Fire. To me, this brings about a sort of ‘thank G-d’ reaction; the battle between Israelis and their Palestinian neighbors has been going on much to long, and is a truly tragic thing.
Over the years, the intensity of the fighting has gone up and down, and recently, it has gone up. It seems to me, that we must pray for a cease-fire, or countless more lives will be lost, and we will have something like the month of intense bombing that we had at the end of 2008/beginning of 2009.
Talking about what is going in between Israel and Palestine is a complicated thing; many people want to pin all the blame on Palestine, saying that Israel is entirely without fault, while others try to do the exact opposite. But aren’t they both to blame? Both Israel and Hamas have provoked more fighting over the years, and neither one has seemed all the willing to compromise over major issues. It’s a complicated puzzle, and hopefully one that will be ‘solved’ someday in the near future.
