Fire is has turned to be a significant symbol throughout the novel. Not only did it represent light, which in this case is rare, but strength. The form of the strength brings out qualities such as diligence. "Is the fire real. The fire?"
Yes it is. Where is it? I don't know where it is. Yes you do. It's inside you. It always was there. I can see it. as well as morality, the ability to retain one's humanity in the face of ultimate destruction." (Forgot the page, sorry!) Anyways, the man and the boy internally carry the fire signifies that they are the strong. Also, the significant fire signifies the ambition they had to find the brightside of a pessistic episode. For example, upon the father's deathbed, the man assures the boy that the fire can be found within the boy. In other words, an observation made was that fire brought out the positive side of the novel.
