What drives the bombmaker?

This article appealed to me in a way because nowadays when anything having to do with bombs or bomb making or terrorists are mentioned then the population goes into a panic because its not part of the plan they were promised safety. Has anyone really looked at the reality of it ? In order to really make a change only the will of one man is needed. Whatever this bombmakers motivation was, we obviously didn't see it.
