Uganda gay rights activist is honored

Reading this article, i as quite shocked and disturbed all at the same time. As it is known homosexuality is considered "wrong" or "unaccepted" in many communities today, but it is considered a crime in the country if Uganda. It is said that people of this sexuality are sometimes arrested, sentenced to life in prison, or even beat to death because they prefer to be gay. As many are gay, it is normal to say that most, if not all, are scared to speak out and stand up for what they believe is right, and the idea that gay people should not be discriminated. Mugisha is one of the few that is openly gay and speaks out for his people. With this being said, he recently received the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award in Washington on Thursday. He is honored for his work in what is seen to be a "dangerous climate" for gay people. As Mugisha knows his gay preference isn't accepted, he believes that he has the right and wants everyone to know that. Mugisha continues to speak out and fight for what he believes is right: gay rights.
