This article was about some celebrity couples and how long their "marriages" lasted some 8,5,24 days some even lasted 5 hours. what amazed me was that at the end of the article a psychology professor said that “Marriages that end early are actually the norm in the United States,” that was shocking that in todays modern day society we are so accepting of marriages lasting only 5 hours after only saying I do? Also in this article their was a list of a bunch of celebrity couples who had a very short marriage Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, Drew Barrymore and a Welsh Bartender, Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock...etc It made me think about in class how we talked about how the media plays a big role in our lives and that what we watch and learn about frequently compared to what actually is happening in the world around us. It made me wonder about what example are we setting to the kids and the generation to come? that its okay to have such short marriages and then go be with someone else to restart the cycle all over again?

I completely agree with u. I mean what's up with that, getting married for a few hours? What ever happen to the believe of marriage being sacred and being serious. If your not sure about being tied down then don't waste your money and time for a wedding that is not going to last. Get to know the person and then decide if you want to take stuff serious. 5 hrs that's just crazy!
I Defiantely agree. People now a days are taking marage as if its a play thing. What about the significance it once had? People are getting marrage for the wrong reasons. 5 hrs is a rediculous amount of time to be married for.
It's just so ridiculous... The American view on marriage is so upside down and backwards. It's obviously a big enough thing to spend millions of dollars on, but even that isn't enough to keep the bride and groom together. I would say that we have a problem in this country about preparing our men and woman to be brides and grooms and not husbands and wives.
And at the very same time, we won't let gay couples who truly love each other get married, claiming that will "destroy the institution of marriage." A tiny bit hypocritical, don't you think?
