the 'Wild' West

Sal sees the west as a symbol for dreams and a place of Cowboys and Heroes. He sees Dean as a prime example of what greatness the West can bring. Out of many American Dreams represented in this book, the 'Wild' West is one of my favorites, because i can remember watching westerns with my uncles and cousins all the time. Its exciting, especially when you live a city life which can become very routine and boring. By traveling west, I think Sal was seeking to become a Western Cowboy like in those shows i watched. He is disappointing, however, he even says the East is better at one point. This further proves the fact that Sal is more satisfied in the trip than his destination. Because everywhere he goes, he finds disappointment, or dissatisfaction, so he keeps on keeping on.
