I chose this article because of the perspective it is from. It is written in the opinion of Colbert King who is the writer. He is writing about how he had to write an article about 911 on September 11th, 2001 to be published the next day. I find it interesting how even in such disaster he saw hope for America in 2001. He knew that eventually we would rebuild everything destroyed. Also he used a lot of imagery in describing his day on September 11th as everyone was fleeing their offices to go home, he stayed and he wrote and watched on television the disaster taking place. Even with this horrible tragedy "people in the area did not give in to full-scale panic. That alone denied the terrorists the victory they sought". We have not lost because of the way people reacted. Although people were scared, we as a country stayed strong and prepared ourself for fixing the damage done. He mentions how those values are still carrying through to today. He is comparing then to now and although they are very different time both emotionally and physically, they still show the hope of American future and our ability to rebuild ourselves after a tragedy.
